What are your concerns or reasons for wanting or thinking you need a box? I would say 90%+ of the people that run a 6637 do so without any form of air box.
I believe many who add a box do so to reduce noise and/or keep heat away. Good luck, hopefully you enjoy the sound. PMS(Powerstroke Modification Syndrome) sets in fast after your first couple mods!!
Like Al said u don't need a box. Youll hear the turbo spool up more with the open filter vs. the stock box, but I think thats a good thing. You can always fab a box up later if it is too noisy for you.
I added my 6637 the other day w no box and i didnt hear much of a difference in the noise dept.. Now that could be because I am still running the stock intake tube and havent done the CCV mod, but I am not sure. First mod I have done to this truck since I got it at the end of May

Its not that much different - Notice it more when towing heavy.
