i have a 1978 ford f150 4x4 400 6.6 v8 c6 trans..my question is where the kickdown rod attaches to the transmission whats that part called on the transmission ..mine just spins around i think its broke..any help please
First, make sure that the nut that holds the arm to the shaft is tight.
The arm that the kickdown linkage hooks to is p/n C9TZ-7A394-A Lever assy., downshift control outer.
The shaft that it bolts to is p/n D0AZ-7D261-B Lever assy., downshift detent inner.
Here are two pictures the first shown what you're looking at internally if you have to replace the shaft. It comes out from inside, you have to drop the valve body to get to it.
The second is an outside view of the arms, note though, the kickdown arm in the picture is on backwards. the arm's pin should point away from the tranny not towards it.

Larry is related to Bob, same rip-off prices! The last MSRP of DOAZ-7D261-B = $124.25 / Dealer net cost: $82.83.
10 additional are listed on the dealer locator including TASCA FORD in RI (401-681-1360). OP lives next door in CT / And, this part is the SAME for all 1970/79 FoMoCo C6 Passenger Cars.
And, while D0 is correct, these parts are listed on PV as DO.
Coupla days ago, a member called Green Sales, was looking for a speedo gear (he looked the number up himself). Green said they didn't have it, but they did, had 5 of the puppies.
Member asked for 01T-17271-D, pronouncing it zero1T. Green has it listed under O1T-17271-D (oh1T).
Partsguys usually pronounce the zero as oh, so part number prefixes are typed into locator sites this way. When checking a number with an zero as the 2nd digit of the prefix, remember, it can also be typed as the letter O.
And, then there's this FIASCO! A clueless Carpenter employee typed 1000's of obsolete part numbers into his site and on PV that have the letter O as the 3rd digit of the prefix, but typed a ZERO instead!
DC is aware of the problem, said it will take months to fix. Meanwhile 1000's of obsolete parts are layin' on shelves listed under the WRONG fracatta part numbers!

OOPS on the phone numbers, my bad. Guess old age is starting to catch up to me Bill.
I wondered about the two Allens. Thought they might be related but wasn't sure, now I know.
I was going to check the other parts locator and add more names this morning but you beat me to it. Old age is starting to show, I'm really gettin' slow.
Thanks for the corrections and the added info Bill.
Neither one of us is gettin' any younger, that's for damn sure. I'll be 68 in September.
And tryin' to help peeps on internet sites can be frustrating to say the least...hair turns grayer every day. Dispostion swings wildly from crabby to grumpy.
Mike, here's an example of how frustrating it can be. User name is socal73, but has a 1978 F250. Avatar pic doesn't look like any '78, cuz where's the '78's fish mouthed grille?
If socal73 asked a question without listing one shred of evidence of what he's working one, what could you do? Punt!

That could be an easy fix if they found a programmer like me. Might have to send them an email.

Some of us have more than one truck! I don't think they would be happy if I registered a new user name for each vehicle!
Here is the fish mouthed, and not sure why FTE has the 78 listed as my primary...
We do genuinely appreciate all of your info and knowledge despite the frustration we cause you!
