My 2005 STX 4.6 fuel pump crashed a couple of months ago. A couple of days after having it replaced I started having hard/rough starting problems accompanied by a 0300 and 0301 code. I reset the codes several times and they only come back during the 3rd or 4th hard start, never while driving. The hard starts occur after the engine is shut off for more than a few minutes after driving. I have replaced the plugs, #1 COP, remaining COP boots, Cam Pos Sensor, Fuel pump drive module and had and FI. Also had the fuel pump replaced again on warranty thinking maybe a bad check valve. Again...it worked perfectly for a day and now I'm back to square one. Haven't gotten any codes YET but its only been a day. Anybody got any ideas? Bad injector? EGR?
I would disconnect the air tube at the throttle body and have someone turn the motor over while my hand in front of the throttle body opening ( with a glove on). See if you have killer intake vacuum. If it isn't stronger than a vacuum cleaner ( weak ) you have a problem with the intake manifold gasket or internal engine damage. Check to make sure no vacuum hoses are off and all vacuum works. If you still have low vacuum put a vacuum gauge on it to see exactly where it is at. If vacuum is outstanding, check your spark plugs and perform a compression test of all cylinders. 2 low of compression next to each other ( 50% ) would indicate a head gasket problem. Low compression across the engine would be wear. Your codes are moving all over the place with the misfires, look at the induction system, very closely for a loose connection, cracked tube, bad MAF, or its seal. It is probably very simple basic problem. Loose connection, cracked connector or corrosion. Notalways easy to find, but look close to the back of the motor firewall area. Even inside the PCV hose.
