Sorry for the question as I'm sure this has been discussed many times.
I'm new to the F150s......I'm used to my 7.3 and many motorcycles.
However I'm helping my roomate do some work on his 02 F150 4.2 today.....it has many codes and I read up on them via search on FTE.

Reading the posts, I see people referencing cleaning the throttle bodies and checking for vacuum leaks.
Sorry for the stupid question - but exactly how does one check for vacuum leaks? The only detail I saw was spraying the intake manifold gasket with throttle body cleaner while the truck was running.
well as i read on FTE forums you can use some propane with truck running go to through the vacuum lines & where the propane gets sucked in theres your leak for starters or you can do vacuum test on lines 1 by one to see if it holds up vacuum dont exactly know how thats done, 3rd spray with a spray bottle filled with water mild soap see if bubbles up 4th take it to shop some have the ultralight smoke to detect any kind of leak from gasket/vacuum/gas/just about anything but cost ?? machine is around 1k-3k for a good one to test 4 leaksHope that helps!
With all the codes you got theres plenty of work id say besides vacuum leaks check codes 1 by 1 & work your way through!
GOOD LUCK VACUUM LEAKS ARE A PITA!
on the 5.4 motor, you stand by the drivers fender and look at the left side of motor by the intake manifold. there are a couple rubber hoses about 1/4 ID and 8 inches long that run REAL close to the exhaust riser tubes (HOT). pull any hose off thats close to the hot stuff and examine. mine were hard and brittle on the end and cracked. replace and no code.
1131 adn 1151 ar O2 sensor probe problems that can be caused by vacuum leak (air inlet leakage). 171 and 174 are also know to be caused by vacuum leaks. the hoses or intake manifold gasket cracked is a good spot to look.
