A/C compressor problem

Compressor will work fine if a jumper wire is used. As soon as wire is removed it quits. Checked fuses but still won't work.

One of the pressure switches is open, either low or high...

Probably LOW on refrigerant.....Philip

Thank you. Will check refrigerant, we put some in not too long ago. Will it do that if too full?

put a gauge on the line and you should have about 100 psi with motor off. Start up and engage clutch and the suction drops to 40 and high side goes to 200. If you drop to 20 or so, the switch kicks out. high side is probably over 300 psi to kick out.

You say you just recharged the system ? May be better off looking for the leak at this point if you just charged the system.. Look for wet oily spots on the O.Rings at all the connections points and all over the Condensor coil thats where I find most leaks as rocks will kick up and puncture the Condenser coil .
