Flywheel rattling - 2000 Explorer
Originally I thought I had some bad gas, lots of vibration when put in gear or a/c turned on, till I crawled under the truck. Planning on pulling the starter off in the next few days to see if possibly the bolts to the torque converter are just loose. If not it will probably be coming apart for a replacement. Is this a common problem on these trucks. Mine is a 4.0 OHV engine. Also, I've read that Ford switched to a 2 piece flywheel/flexplate after 1996. Can I use an older solid one as a replacement. Not sure if it mounts with 6 or 8 bolts. Anyone who could give me some tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Pretty sure. Recently did a tuneup and have drained the gas I thought was bad and replaced with new gas and dry gas to be safe. The vibration is constant and seems to be coming from the lower area rear motor/front trans.
