99 v-10 idle problems

Truck has 206,000 on it. It has been idling real low and when you push in on the clutch to stop it would die most of the time. It had an IAC code so the IAC was replaced test drove seemed to be fine but under load the blower would switch from vents to defrost found a hole in line from pcv and fixed it. Truck is still idling down and stalling and still switches from vents to defrost under load. also have cleaned maf sensor, intake, air filter and looked for more vacum leaks with water. truck runs fine driving. I still think it is a vacum leak but can't find it.. Any other thoughts would be very helpfull. Truck has no codes at this time If you can get it to idle somtimes it idles around 600-700 Thanks, Cliff

Hi cliff1 and welcome to FTE.

The air conditioning system switching to defrosters is a big clue. The heating/AC system is run by engine vacuum (or pump vacuum if you have a Power Stroke). If there is insufficient vacuum to operate the system, it defaults to blowing out of the defroster vents as a safety default.

You still have a vacuum leak somewhere in your truck. Does it have ESOF (Electronic Shift on the Fly) ? That is a fairly common area for vacuum leaks to occur.

Yes it has ESOF the hubs have been changed out, and i pulled the line off the pass fender from the box and it has vacum to it but not coming out of it, I was assuming this was correct and that it would only open when ESOF was engaged. Is this correct or not. or should that line be plugged now that it is not used. Thanks

Yes, the lines should be capped. That may or may not be the issue, all I can say right now is that you do have a vacuum leak somewhere.

I think i found the leak on the air, it was that some jack leg had moved the lines around and got them out of order, I think i got all of them correct. A/C works perfect now but truck still idles from time to time at 500 to 800 and somtimes starts and runs great but other times starts and dies it is just not consistent allmost always dies when clutch is engaged and stoping or idles down to 200 rpm and catches itself. It poped some codes to day they were egr insuffisient flow and # 10 cly misfire replaced coil and plug on # 10 but no change. Thanks for all the help still trying to figure it out. Any ideas
