Ok, lets get to the bottom of this. Question for you Ford Tech's. Does the Hot Flush procedure recycle the oil? Basically, am I getting oil in my trans from the truck prior to me? I need to know how this thing works. Can one of you guys post some pictures of it?
While I'm no tech, I'm reasonably certain that a flush machine receives fluid pumped from the transmission, and pumps an equivalent amount of brand new fluid back through the return line. Heated flush machines are required for the 5R110 transmission, and these pump heated fluid back into the transmission.
The issue I have, if Joe Blow's 2006 Superduty gets his trans flushed before mine and is running who knows what fluid, it that mixing with mine?
No.
The purpose of a flush isn't to recycle used fluid, but to replace all the fluid in a transmission with new fluid. As opposed to dropping the pan and only getting ~2/3rds of it.
I think I read somewhere that a hot flush uses 20-21 quarts, compared to 7-8 for a drain and fill, and the total 17-19 quart capacity of a 5R110. If you're buying more fluid than the trans holds, you shouldn't get any old junk. I wouldn't be worried.
