So is there a place to buy the roof replacement or was it from another truck as a donor? The work you did is very impressive. How long did it take you and did you have any problems with the supports twisting or moving while u were cutting and welding? How does your windshield line up if you have test fit or installed it>?
Great work, Kudos!

There is no place to buy a roof replacement that I know of. I cut the top off a junkyard truck and dissected the roof 1 spot weld at a time. I should have used a roof in better condition as the one i used had some pitting and surface rust (although no rust through). A generous amount of time was spent just cleaning the roof up and epoxy primering it prior to welding it on. All in all it has taken me the better part of a year to get to this point, but I had limited time to work on it.
I Initially braced the cab after removing the roof and interior panel above the windshield, but it turned out to not be necessary. The windshield hasn't been installed yet, but I don't foresee any problems with the windshield lining up, everything is still square and the new panels and roof fit just fine when i plug welded them in.
I still have to lay paint on the doors, fenders and hood..... then of course there are a bunch of other things that still need attention on the truck.
Making a little progress on the rest of the truck. Have fenders, dash and 1 door in epoxy primer now. Filler should be minimal on these parts so hopefully i will have color on them soon.... Hopefully.
Filler applied and epoxy primer scuffed (for reapplication purposes)
2 more coats of epoxy primer
2k Filler Primer
I'll block sand now until my arms feel like they are about to fall off. Repeat filler primer and sand some more on trouble areas. We'll see how many iterations it takes for me to become satisfied, after all the truck is still a "beater."
Thanks for the compliments guys! What you don't see is the rusty frame, worn out suspension, and tired 351m. At least i wont get rained on anymore and it will look purdy.... From 10 feet away haha!
Making small progress on the panels. I now have both fenders and the dash complete. I thought i finished the door, but my masking job wasn't up to par and i ended up with some over spray on the side of the door that needs to be fixed. I still need to blast, repair, prime and paint the passenger side door and hood of the truck.
I'm eager to finish this stuff up and move on to "funner" aspects of the truck. I have some decisions to make concerning the engine and its thirst for oil. Fabbing a hydro boost system is also near the top of the to do list once all this miserable painting is finished.
