I don't think I did enough prep cleaning and sanding as it peeled up within a year. The few spots where I did get it clean are still there, but it looks like **** now.
Yeah, I've heard that if you don't prep it good enough, it will not last too well. If you prep it very well I heard it lasts great. Considering that I want to pull dents out of my fender well's and some spots inside the bed before I do a bed liner I'm probably gonna wind up sanding the whole bed very well (there's not much paint left inside the bed lol) then primer the whole inside the bed thick with anti rust primer then sand that new primer up with 80 grit, I think that should be good enough, wouldn't you think?
He's been slowly but surely refurbishing his truck, and has painted the bed, etc. You'll find some good info there.
Once you have the dents cleaned up and the rust taken care of, you should consider an epoxy primer sealer to seal the metal and prevent moisture from getting back in there. Personally, I would follow that with a good 2-part epoxy topcoat for additional protection from the elements, and then the bedliner. The beds do get some abuse, and are usually exposed to the weather. Especially being up there in the Seattle area, I can guarantee it will see some rain.
Good luck.

Reason: spelling error
I read somewhere on their forum, the owner was talking about it and said that the difference between his bedliner (cold type) and the hot type (linex, etc.), was the temp that it went on and how long it took to cure because of that. I think at $140 versus $400, it's worth a shot. I've actually seen some on several trucks at the collision supply house and you almost couldn't tell the difference side by side. It did look just as good as the other guys too, when applied properly. As far as durability, I really can't say as I've never seen it after it was used as in a work truck. I already have one of their Geo-guns that I needed for spraying on my undercoating on the underside of the bed.
There's some interesting stuff in those threads, my truck does sit outside, but I never throw anything inside the bed, it's mostly a daily well, once or twice a week driver right now. It might occasionally see a lawnmower or weedwacker in the back, I don't abuse my truck so the durability should be fine. As for the primers you're talking about, that's some expensive stuff! I was thinking of just using a self etching primer.

I'm using mostly the black poxy primer. It's not as expensive as the name brand stuff, and just as good quality. And now you know why a good quality paint job costs so much. I'd still rather do it myself and save the labor. I might even learn something in the process. Here's a link to my thread; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...build-log.html
Just give them a call or email. They have absolutely the best customer service, and free shipping. They might also recommend someone in your area that carries the product.
I've got a couple questions about the epoxy primer, 1 is how much do yo think I'll need to do the whole inside of my bed? and 2 does epoxy primer need to be reduced (as you can tell I've never used epoxy primer before) lol

I honestly couldn't answer either question for you, as I'm buying it by the gallon for my whole truck (inside and out). I would suggest calling Barry or Andy @ SPI, or even emailing them. They would be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have, and if you emailed them you would probably get an answer today.
As another thought, you could register on their forum and ask any questions and get good quality answers quickly too.
