Does the alternator give any symtom before goes out completely?
What is the average life span for these alternator, read on here some last to about 160K miles, is this the average?
How come the 140 amp from Tousley Ford read for dual alternator and the regular is 110 amp? So if I buy the 140 amp from Tousley it will be a direct fit?
DC Power alternator seem to be to expensive for my taste
The Battery light on dash will normaly show itself if alternator going out but not always
Watching voltage output with a gauge is recomended
Ya the Original Alternator can go to 160K if left stock
But majoiity of the OEM rebuilt alts dont seem to go that far
Add a Stereo system or something and OEM has a hard time
My reasoning for going with DC Power was these trucks are so electronicaly controlled its Not a Area you want to install cheap Parts. Weak power will kill FICM fast and other electronics even injectors
I was wonder if the light goes on an off for a few days/ or weeks leading the the fail alternator. If it goes out, just like that with the light on, that's mean I have only the battery juice to get it fixed. Not a good thing.
And to do it on a preventive maintenance at 134K miles, while I am 500+ miles from home on vacation and it goes out, is it a good idea or I am paranoid? Just because this IS a 6.0 after all
If your lights comming on at all from what I experianced the last few weeks. GO directly to get it tested do not go out to eat do not put if off for a day, or you may have a dead truck.
The OEM 140A alternator is in fact provided with the dual alternator package, but it was also an upgrade that could be specified for a single alternator system. It is a direct fit.
