hey guys, i'm back. sorry for running silent this past week.

i've been busy with my ficm. i found someone who can do my ficm locally here in houston. he's the only one in houston who does it like ed from ficmrepair.com

he repairs and upgrades the components. it's $300 and he offered me a lifetime warranty on parts & labor. he seemd the best choice cos he was local and pickup was by the end of the day. sorry ed!

i'd have sent it out but i needed it real fast. she's my daily driver. this guy is Allan Leeper, and he's the owner of Seek Speedometers. he usually does fleet accounts and he doesn't entertain individuals like myself unless i was recommended by a former customer of his. he stopped taking business from individuals. i guess business must be really good on the commercial side. a friend of mine had his ficm repaired by him 2 years ago, and it's still running. he made the introduction. the owner is a great guy. great customer service. detailed description. he also found a way to fit me into his busy schedule.

anyway, taking it out was a PITA, and putting it back in was not any easier. i made a mistake by purchasing the grommet and 2 bushings, and i realized later that my mounts have short screws and the drn setup is not like the diagram!

i get a top and bottom mount. goddamn. hence that grommet is too thick and the original bolts were too short.

anyway, i improvised by using 5/8" flat washers and stuffed it in between those big holes thru the bolts. nice tight fit. she aint moving.

bottome line. i plugged in my scangauge, and monitored from start to finish. she didnt drop below 48.5 the entire way, and even after 10 mins of idle running, she held steady at 49 to 49.5 volts.

now tats done, i'm thinking of changing out my icp sensor. she fires up real easy now. the cranking is noticeably quicker too, and she starts in a flash.

guys, i need opinions on the icp sensor. should i change or not? also, i need the part number for my 2005. i seen some on ebay for about $55. is that pulling my leg? cos dont those things run expensive?

also, if anyone has a procedure for the 2005 model, i'm all ears. i know mine's on the passenger side valve cover under the glow plug module. any torque specs on tat?

Dom would be best to get the Original style gromet setup for the FICM

You dont want a compleatly soilid FICM Mount

the rubber gromets Dampen the Vibration for the FICM and Extend its Life expectancy



As Far as the ICP sensor theres no Need to change it till it dies. Plus since your ICP sensor in passenger side valve cover when it does go out you can just unplug it and start the truck and go so its not going to leave you stranded as long as itts Only the ICP that is Causing the trouble when/if it does happen


BTW I just paid 104.00 for a ICP sensor at International so it you fimd one for 55$$ get it and throw in the tool Box thats a great deal just make shure its for an 05 or whatever year your moter was Build

btw, my setup for the ficm is completely different. there is a top mount over by the intake hose and that secures it. from what i found out, 05 to 07 did not have the kind of setup that u have with the grommet and 2 bushings (metal isolators). those 3 parts go in the rear of the ficm when u look at it from the front of the truck.

05 to 07 did not come with that. the mounts have grooves which the ficm sits in and u just tighten that.

but i hear u. thats why i didnt go for metal washers. i went for the rubber ones. it's the kind tat u would use for ur faucets. they're bendy but not too bendy.

i think they will prevent the ficm from moving around too much. (crossing fingers) lol.

 

Ya I knew there was a Diffrent FICM Mount but I didnt know what exactly was the diff was

I beleive the newer Style mount Dampens Vibration even Better that My 03 setup does FWIW

the 03 sat on an aluminum bracket and had large groments that went threw the ficm. the style uses 2 brackets and the isolators are at the base were they bolt down to the valve cover.
