Stalling issue

I have a 2011 5.0 screw with 3.73 gears. Today my wife has the truck to haul stuff for her craft show. She calls and says the truck keeps stalling, like she had to keep restarting the truck 3-4 times to back up 10 feet. The dealership we bought it from is going to pick it up and give us another truck to use while they figure it out. I will let everyone know what they find out when they tell me (service dept is not open until Monday). I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and could provide some insight. Thanks
Mike

Haven't heard of that problem yet, but I have to say that your dealerships service sounds great.
Good luck, I am sure they'll find the issue and fix it!

The general manager went to high school with my wife which makes it nice, but I have no problems at all with their service. It is a great dealership and I definately like doing business with them, they ttreat us great.

A friend of mine has an 11 5.0 with 6000 miles. Told me his wife was driving it and it died. She pulled over and restarted it. When it started the low oil light was on. Drive 1 mile to dealer and they did an oil change. They told him the PCM is set that way to protect the motor. He has never checked the oil since he bought it (one of those guys). I filled him on the oil usage issues with the 5.0 so he will be checking it. I did my first oil change recently at 5000 miles and it was only down about 1/2 a quart.

i wasn't aware of any oil use issues with the 5.0...... any chance you could elaborate on the nature of the oil usage.

i have had cars with over 200k miles on them that did not use more than 1/2 quart in the 5000 miles between oil changes. if my brand new truck used that much i would be very upset.

how much gas do you have in the truck? one time I backed into the driveway and my driveway is on an incline. next morning i remote started it from inside to let it warm up and when i came back out to drive it the truck had died and would not start. finally realized i was down close to empty and the tank is soo long if you are on a hilll it will not pick up gas. I had to let it roll into the road and start it.

So after all the grief the Ecoboost has taken on here with guys professing their lack of trust and stating they'll stick with the "proven" 5.0, we find there's potentially an oil problem there?

I had just checked the oil the previous weekend and it was maybe 1/2 quart low, so that shouldn't have been the problem. Well hopefully anyway. there wer no warning lights that came on at all.

Well, I heard from the dealership today. They have been driving it with no problems. Truck didn't throw any codes or anything. They talked to Ford and they hadn't heard of the problem either, but authorized the dealer to replace the throttle body. It kind of makes sense because the service guy said if it wasn't idling right and you put a load on the engine, it may make it stall. Also, my avg mpg has been lower than before by about 2 mpg, so maybe that had something to do with the throttle body. I hope it works because I am getting tired of putting my truck in the shop. All in all, I love this truck and can't wait til she comes back( hopefully tomorrow night).
