Question First oil change?

Ok I have read a few posts on the first oil change and there seems to be a mixed opinion so I have to ask.
By the way I plan on having the stealership do the first one for records sake. I have had several new FORDS and I have tried several dealerships and so far I think they all could use a lesson in customer service (Before anyone flames me I am in the customer service area) This is my forth FORD and third dealer I have never been there before so I will let everyone know how they are.
Ok all that said Should I have the oil changed at 3,000 miles like the gassers ? or as someone posted earlier the first oil is run in oil and should be left for 5,000 miles ?
If anyone has the facts please post them
Thanks in advance
Glen

I agree with the 1000 then go to 5000/7500 depending on driving. This engine uses 14 Qts of oil so has a lot more than gassers to work with. You can keep records on the ford site so they can view the records and you can see the records of what the dealership did also in great detail. The site is www.fordvehicles.com in the upper right hand corner of the screen you'll see (owners) go there and register your vehicle.

I registered over a year ago and noticed that some of the dealer service records were not updated or as detailed as I would like. Good thing I have my receipts. However, 6 months later, all my information is gone and it shows no service records for my vehicle???

I find that having receipts is the best, and having detailed receipts of when you purchased oil, filters and when performed is key and is the prudent thing. If you say you changed the fuel filter, then you better be able to show that purchased one or more. Same with oil.

All one needs to do is show that they were resonable and prudent in their attempt to care for their vehicle. Even those that go to the dealer have to save their receipts since the dealer will loose the "service history" or their computer system crashes!!!

Use common sense for any vehicle now days due to the high cost of repairs and car companies looking for ways to deney coverage.

Good luck,

Jeff
