Tailgate Step Delete

New truck off lot came with tailgate step which I didn't want. I work off of my tailgate and need a rather flat surface that the tailgate step handle screws up. Has anyone removed the handle? The step itself is inside of the tailgate and doesn't bother me. I was thinking of removing the handle before I get the bedliner installed so the liner will cover up the screw holes.

Yep, just went to the dealer and got the access panel cover from a non-step tailgate and swapped everything out before having it line-x'd. The step is still in there, which admittedly does come in handy, but not having the pole in the way of loading is very nice.

Better option is MAKE money on the swap as someone in your area will LUST after a step gate

Problem with this is that I would have to swap out the whole tailgate as the step is integrated into the tailgate mid section. The step itself is not in my way, I just need a relatively flat surface to work off of when the gate is down and the 'flagpole' is in the way..

Well if you decide to loose the whole tailgate and it is blue, I will swap you.

You were right on. Guys, I am going to keep the tailgate with step just going to delete the pole. Thanks for the offers. BTW, color is autumn red. Closest I could get to Aggie maroon.

I removed the pole and plastic liner today to see what I would need to do. Exposed several large access holes that I will make a steel plate to cover and then Line-X it all.

I don't mind my step, but the pole sucks! Its all scraped and rusted from the carbides on my sleds when I load them, gonna have to do this delete as well.

How much did the non-pole panel cost you?
