Hi Folks...... The trick I learned while living in NH where they poor 6 inches of salt on the roads when it gets cloudy........ Well, not quite
Chain Saw Bar Oil. The Bar oil is "sticky" (so it stays on the chain). It is less money than other oils, stays on better. Buy it in Gallon jugs, put it in a lawn&garden sprayer. Easy.......
This is very interesting. Is there any risk of fire? That's the first thing I thought of when someone mentioned used motor oil.

If that works...I'm so buying you a beer or two.
I never thinned it out with anything. Yes that type of sprayer is what some folks used. I never did. I used a sprayer hooked to an air-compressor that had a tube that went into the jug of oil.
I learn this from an old guy in Littleton NH. He even had a ramp that he would drive cars up onto that got the car about 3 ft off of the ground.
One of the benefits I discovered about Montana....... No salt. 30 yr old trucks with no rust !!!
I've used T-9 and POR-15 products on my trucks & RV. For common surfaces such as around the door I just wipe down with Armor All. I've never had any rust although I do extensive cleaning & detailing at least once a month.
