Brake Light Issue

So here is my problem. I have a 1997 F-350 Super Duty and the two rear brake lights will not work when applying the brakes, the center light on the rear of the cab illuminates though. So that rules out the brake switch at the petal right? The night running lights work as well as both turn signals and the hazard lights, so the ligh bulbs aren't broken. I am lost as to what the problem could be now, can anybody help?

Sounds like the turn signal switch. The 3rd brake light doesn't run through the T/S switch.

so even though the turn signals and hazard lights work, the brake lights are also run through the turn signal switch? Wouldn't the light's not work at all at all at that point?

I had similar problem once, can't remember if the turn lights worked though. In my truck there is a 20A fuse for the brake lights that was blowing...searched found a short in the trailering wire harness

yeah, all my fuses are good. The signal lights work as well, along with the third brake light. Luckly I have another vehicle to drive so I'm not to worried about driving without brake lights.

If both the turn signals work then the wiring from the T/S switch to the bulbs is good. If the 3rd brake light which doesn't run through the T/S switch works then the BOO switch is good. See if you have 12v on the LG #511 circuit from the BOO.

Put it off for a while but finally fixed the problem. Turns out it was the turn signal switched as you guessed ncranchero. Thanks for the help guys!
