I bought my expedition a couple weeks ago it is a 97 eb with 4wd and I was wondering what this is black metal piece attached to my mirror by rivets? Is it a mirror guard? Is it aftermarket? Is it stock? Is is homemade? What is it?

this link is the pics
what are the things on the mirrors

Thanks Chris

I've never seen anything like that. It doesn't look homemade, the curves and bends are actually nicely done. I'm not a fan of the attachments though.

Def they are home made. They don't seem to have any purpose on there, as on the second shot they ride above the mirror. Looks like the previous owner did not like looking at the gaps between the mirror and the housing and this gets rid of that.
