Engine Advice

My dad has a 1976 F250 crew cab with a utility bed that has been sitting in his shop for a while now. I'm getting it for my first truck and I was wondering what would be the best engine for it?

What's in it now? What did it have in it? Intended use?

Ford 406 Engine Build - Hot Rod Magazine

Power to cost ratio... the "boat anchor" Ford 400 is tough to beat.

Choices are many, but keeping the original power train is usually the best option... Rebuild what you have.

Engine swaps and tranny swaps can get expensive quickly. Ask me how I know...
