Which engine should I use?
I have a 78 Ford F-250 with a 400m that has 87,000 miles on it.I can't decide if I wanna keep that and get a new carb,hedders,cam,etc to hop it up some.Or if I wanna put a different engine in it.I could put a 428 cobra jet in their,a rebuilt 351 cleaveland,or a 390.I would be using my truck to drive to school everyday go mud boggin on weekends.But I want it to be pretty quick,sound good and have some power so I can stomp some people with 350,427 chevys and so on.So which engine should I put in.

If you are looking for an inexpensive engine to hop up you should go with a 351W, or a 429-460. The cleveland is a great motor and oh my god so is the 390 but unless you have a ton of money you'll get the best performance for the dollar from the engines I just recommended because parts are widely available. I love my 390 to death but it ain't cheap. I'm doing a 400+ HP rebuild and doing it right and it's going to cost about 3500 bucks before its all said and done. If you dumped 3500 into a 460 you wouldn't know what to do with the power.
