The above will work fine, but it's much more involved and complicated than just using a diode and the buzzer.
The diode is Radio Shack part number 276-1141 2 pack for $1.59
The buzzer is Radio Shack part number 273-055 $3.59 each.
Not knocking the previous posts in any way except it's many more wires and hook-ups than the diode and the buzzer.
I'm sure the diode and buzzer from Radio Shack would have worked fine but we have no Radio Shack in our small town and I always get a kick out of recycling something I already have on hand. I already had the buzzer and the relay so my total money output on this venture was 'ZERO'. It's not a lot of money saved but I didn't have to make a trip somewhere for parts and I used up some of my junk pile.
