Calling All 2011 & 2012 Owners -- Window seal Missing
Hi all...
I have a quick few questions regarding my new 2012 SuperDuty.
I was installing my WeatherGuard tool box this afternoon...and noticed my rear window does not have a rubber weather seal??? I mean...you can actually see the gap and inner black sealant.
My question(s): Is that normal? Or did they forget to add an exterior weather rubber seal???
I always thought they look much cleaner without the big rubber seal,
YES...a cleaner look. But...if you look close...seems like a lot of dust and dirt would pile in. I suppose if the gap was not so big...it wouldn't cause me so much concern.
Heck...during the winter months would be the worst. Get rain/snow and then it freeze in...
They actually stay cleaner and dry without the moldings or gasket. Some vehicles get a lot of rust because the moldings hold in mud and crud that causes corrosion. Usually after a poor installation job where the pinchweld gets scratched and not prepped properly.
The new ford has a bigger gap than most of the other new vehicles without a molding

I have not had any water sit in the crack, and I wash my truck at least once a week and never dry that part. No problem during the winter either.
