just scored a 440m

I've been searching craigslist for a good motor. Well, don't know if its good yet, but it was a deal. Got a 400m for $30 cause the guy sold his picker and couldn't get it off the ground. I'm hoping to replace my tired 351m with it. Can anyone help with some info. D9VE-9C 485-AA
That's the code on the sticker on the rocker cover. This motor has an air pump and the sump in the front.

Screwed the title up good didn't I? LOL

Used motors are always a crap shoot.

Well, I got the motor down to just the block with the rotating assembly and cam still in. The original timing chain is stretched, but the plastic teeth are in really good shape. The cylinders have a small ridge at the top, small enough to think the pistons would pop out without using a reamer. So I'm thinking of just checking the main bearings, and not pulling it all the way apart. Anyone have the factory specs on the cam? I was thinking of going with a summit cam. It has the same specs as the edlebrock performer cam, but comes with lifters and is $50 cheaper to boot. Anyone run one of these? Are the specs of these cams a lot better than the stock cam? I'm also going to get the timing chain that stands the timing back to TDC.

Ditch the stock timing set and cam for a Comp set. I went with a XE256H cam in my daily driver and it's great.

If you search around this forum for comp and edelbrock there's plenty of info.
