1994 F150, digital odo. doesn't light up?

Picking up this nice little short box 4x4 5 speed 300 F150 today, mileage is unknown as the odo. doesn't light up.

What can be the problem with that? Is there a fuse for those, or something burnt out behind the cluster? All the other gauges work.

Does the speedometer work? Because there's a fuse that covers that and the Odometer both...

If the Speedo does indeed work, sounds more like there isn't any power to the Odometer....

They're on seperate grids...

Where is that fuse? Is it in that little panel on the dash below the light switch? I drove it straight to storage, and the speedo indeed does not work.

In the lil fuse block to the left of your left leg...15 amp, IIRC..

The cover actually has a diagram showing what each one is for, and its placement...

I saw the fuse, a red 10amp was in place, and was blown. I took another red 10 and stuck it in there, the dash lite up for a few seconds, the mileage showed up, 145,862km (90k miles), then went blank again....fuse blew.

Didn't notice what amps the fuse was suppose to be, I'll have to look again next time I go to it. But looks like theres a short somewhere.

F250XLT:

For 250$ for a running driving 4x4 stick truck, I couldn't say no Doors and cab are mint! I'll post up pictures later on.

For some odd reason the speedo is on the same circuit as the dome lights, both cab and rear. Mine will blow if I have the door open and try to start it, must be a bad bulb or something and when the volts get low the amps go up and it pops.

Its supposed to be a 15 amp fuse.

Well here she be!

Shes got character to

Now don't judge a book by it's cover....

The only rust on the cab, is on the corners... they aren't gone through yet thankfully, still easily repairable.

Drove it straight to storage, a 20 min drive on country roads. Drives actually very nice, has a slight pull to the right, but other than that, it's great! Clutch seems good, shifts good in all gears (stupid M5OD though....) not a huge fan of that tall reverse gear! At least it's 4x4, so low range will come in handy to correct that. 4x4 works (auto hubs), oil is clean in engine, runs super smooth and quiet, fires right up.

Now the bad..... not much to list, but it hasn't been plated and on the road for 6 years, it's been running around in a parking lot for 6 years. It was used as a fuelling truck in an auction. So that's not good. Also gonna need front tires, and probably an alignment, wheels are straight camber wise, but has that slight pull. That's about it.

Nice find, John...
I'll see if I can dig up the wiring diagram for your speedo.

You should have "2" fuses for the psom.
One is a 10 amp and the other is 15 amps.

Here's a diagram of the left part, pic was two small, so I had to split it in two.
Lightgreen/yel and pink/org are the power lines.
Follow the others to find your fault.

Here's the right side, continued.

You'll see...wires 4 and 5, change into wires 1 and 2 on the far right.
The next pic shows these continuations.
They go to your vss.
