Another question for you guys... The bed has a lot of surface rust in it. I was going to try to stop the rust, the later on have the bed Line-xed. I used a product in the 80s that I painted on and it converted the rust to a black coating. I found this at Home Depot and I believe it does basically the same thing. Have anyone ever used this product for surface rust? I was going to use a wire wheel to knock off any loose bits and spray this on...
What do you think? Would I have any issues with the Line-x bonding to it?
If this stuff works well, I thought about going over the whole undercarriage with it and then using the spray undercoating. I know I wouldn't have issues with the rubber undercoating sticking...
Haven't had much luck with rattle can products, but "Jasco"(phosphoric acid) available at the same store, will do the trick for you. "Ospho" is another. Cheap and in quart bottles. I use it in an old garden sprayer for bare frames.
Ok... After reading the stuff from your link... I will not be using rust converter on the bed...
But, what do you think about the surface rust on the frame and undercarriage? I wouldn't be painting it but spraying undercoating on it... I trying to find the easiest way without tearing the whole truck apart. I would probably pull the bed off at some time, I just didn't want to do it this soon.

Suggestions?
Honestly, I used some of this stuff on my frame when I had my bed off.
Then I used some Chassis Black on it. Then I coated that with some Rustoleum Black. I did all of this before I found out not to do it that way. So, I guess I will find out in due time whether it will last or not.
I still haven't finished with the cab or under it for that matter. I am going to use the 2-part epoxy on the cab inside, cab outside, cab underside, and the frame under the cab too, once I get my rusty floor panels replaced.
I guess, only time will tell which is the better option. And, I will surely post back to tell of my findings if anything happens either way. I have a build thread were I am keeping up with everything here; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...build-log.html
