ben noticing for a couple times out i have a vibration at 35 to 45 mph.if i step it or let off for little bit it will go away.i only notice at the slower speeds like in town not on highway.i got underneath a didnt notice any play on u- joints carrier bearing has a little up and down but i think thats the rubber bushing giving the way it looks.i was thinking something along driveshaft lines but wouldnt that vibrate all the time?its all original under there the way it looks and has 109,600 on it now.should i change them out and see if that helps?thanks in advance for any help
Check the big steel ring on the back of the driveshaft near rear end. It is a vibration dampener. The rubber that holds it has a tendency to rot causing movement. If you raised your truck you have to lower carrier bearing to keep driveshaft at correct angle to rear end. Could it be tire related? Front end? Do you feel vibration through steering wheel or driver seat?
no truck is stock height just aftermarket wheels but stock height also.i dont feel it through steering wheel only through i guess the seat.its an up and down vibration.the damper looks tight yet.it could be tires since it only happens at a certain speed the goes away.there is no tell tale clunk when i put in gear from any slop in drivetrain.
Once the tires start vibrating, they usually don't quit. If the vibration is "pulsing" (increasing severity, then decreasing severity in a cycle, it is probably ujoints or something on the drive line.
thanks for the input.didnt have time check it out yet had to replace rear caliper it froze up and then bleeding the brakes and the line blew in behind fuel tank.whatta nite.but its back on the road and next week dealers fixing power door locks and power mirrors.no charge ! cant beat that.i am going to replace u joints and carrier bearing and have mapco check driveshaft if that dont work.thanks again
weird and maybe unrelated but i drove truck since the caliper froze and didnt notice a vibation.a couple more trips will tell.(i only drive it a day or two a week.
ya lets hope it is gone.need to get front shocks yet.then try to trobleshoot the tire rub sensation when im turning sharp up to 15 mph or so.assuming cluthces in rear.just changed to valvoline l.s. synthetic and friction modifier.then 4 inch turbo back and 6637 filter kit!i knew with buying this truck alot of "wear" items would need replaced.it is a 11 year old truck.but its better than a 600. payment for me
and the thanks goes to you guys for all the help and knowledge.youve helped with my 99 5.4 and now my 7.3.
