Vibration on acceleration

My 93 has been having a vibration, but it's only when I'm accelerating. Once I let off the pedal, it stops. I was under the assumption that it was a U-joint going, but all three of them are still tight. I'm curious to know if it could be the carrier bearing, that is making the vibration. The only play I have in the rear driveline is in the carrier bearing itself. If I move it up and down, I can hear a rubbery sloshing sound.

Thanks for the help!
Gary

Everything is balanced. I didn't find any missing wheel weights on any of the 4 wheels.

I just had the front end aligned a month ago and the problem started well-after that. Also, it is coming from the rear driveline.

I figured it was a U-joint, but I checked all three of them. Tight as can be... Carrier bearing was the only thing with what I consider abnormal play in it.

Could be tail shaft bearing or pinion bearing, carrier would be my last thought as it is made to flex some and unless severely deteriorated, should last for darn near ever. My 84 is still original and looks good so far. Good luck!

a u joint that is beginning to seize will cause this type of vibration
did you remove the driveshaft and check the u joints for stiffness

Trying to get the drive shaft off now... Someone decided to put red loctite on the torx head bolts that hold the u-joint to the axle yolk!

Out comes the torch.
Time for some heat on the bolts.

After reading through this again, I don't think I would rule out the carrier bearing.

But then you have to get the driveshaft out before you can change it, so I guess first priority is driveshaft out and check the U joints.
