Hello Guys,
Im new to the Ranger forum, I do however spend a lot of time on the Diesel forum.
Heres my question,
Do any of you have any tips for removing the leaf spring bushings?
The rear hangers and shackles have rusted through and Im replacing them. However I cant get the bushings out of the leaf springs.
Torch works good if you have access to one. Or if you can get a hacksaw blade in the curl of the leaf spring, that should cut them out. I have done two sets of hangers and shackles and didn't bother replacing the bushings as they were still OK.
I used a torch, even a basic propane will work, once the rubber was hot I used an air hammer to knock it out. If you got a ball joint press that might work too, you can always rent that tool at Advance if you have one around you. Somebody else might discourage using a torch, but a zillion peeps have done it with no ill effects.
