Leaf spring bushings

I need to replace my leaf spring bushings on my 95 ford f-150 2x4. I was wondering if I have to have them pressed in or can i use a hammer? Also where would I go to get a set of over load leafs?

They old ones have to be pressed out. Polyurethane replacements slide in, stock ones will have to be pressed in as well.

Get out the drill to hollow out the old bushings to get em out. That or a torch is the good 'ol redneck method of removal. Need to do this myself Maybe after I fix the wifes car.

Don't do this! Leaf springs should never be heated. It can cause them to fail and break making it especially dangerous to do at the eye. If you don't have a press you can use a big C clamp and some sockets to push the old bushing out and the new ones in. It takes a good amount of leverage on the C clamp though. Otherwise if you pull the whole spring a good bench vise will work nicely also.

I guess I'll go with the poly bushings, seems like it would be the easier route.

Where can I get a set of the poly bushings at, fast? Also Is there any other bushings under there I should go ahead and replace while I have them out? I do quite a bit of heavy hauling.

Has anyone else done this? Im going to replace them this weekend. I went ahead and bought the 4 bushings for the springs and the 2 for the ones that actually mount to the frame as well. Im also going to purchase an "add a leaf". I guess this will help out a bit on a heavy load. I hope all of this takes care of the popping.

Is PROTHANE a good product for leaf spring bushings? It is what I purchased, I just want to know if this is a pretty legit company.

i dont know if i am too late to add my 2 cents, but when i took my old bushings out i used a wheel puller and an impact gun. It worked pretty well. when you install the new ones put them in the freezer for a while before, it will make it easier.
