FWIW, when the IPR o rings went on mine, it flat out wouldn't run or start till it cooled down and the oil thickened up.

Sounds like you should change out the IPR O rings.

Did I miss your gear ratio post? Did you check the axle code? I have a '95 crew cab, dually 4X4 with a C9 axle from the factory (3.54:1) Sucks for towing. You can also figure it out with a gear ratio calculator, there are a lot of them on the I net.

Mine was the same way when I bought it!! After throwing some cash at it and adding the DP-tuner f-6 chip. This thing turned into a monster!! Stay onboard with FTE and your truck will be top notch!!
I believe my problem was leaky up pipes. I never saw soot because these rigs run so clean. Then put the chip in, and started throwing some black smoke out. While I was tearing it down to add a quick spool turbo housing, intercooler and terminator hpop. I notice the soot at the y collector behind the turbo. That's a possibility if u can see any soot. Leaky up pipes are no bueno. Right fellas?
But I would try all the other recommendations first and just take a good look for some soot around them dang up pipes. Welcome to FTE and good luck bud!!!

Just letting you guys know Im still looking into my problem, did find out I think my gears are high. Went camping last weekend and was doing 70-75mph fully loaded, wheelers on back with camper, and was running right at 2200rpm. My buddy said he can do 60mph but hes at 2200-2350rpm. so taken that info figure hes got 4-10's Im just thinking I got higher gearing. My next step is a compression test, just for piece of mind, and then would like to get a 4" exhaust, then maybe a chip or programmer for that little extra. Any ideas or thoughts on this would be truly thankful. I will keep you all posted as soon as work gives me a few days off so Im able to do this.

So with 3.55's would that make me sluggish climbing grades with 2 wheelers and a 1977 18' camper?

So I keep seeing your guys's info and you all mainly have 4" exhaust. Except for the stacks, but I found a 4" cat back for $280.00. Then I seen that for $300.00 I could get a 5". Any recomendations? I already have the 3" downpipe and no muffler. Now that being said I also found a "Diablo Super Chip" thats just a single setting pretty much plug it in and go which is more for me not the 6 stage different settings. I just need that little extra. Say's its gonna give you 50-65 horse, and 5 more mpg's. Any thoughts on that would be great too. Thanks!

50-60 horse, maybe, not likely though, as that is pushing it for an off the shelf product. 5 mpg, NEVER HAPPEN. You're much better off with a custom chip. I hear you on the 6 settings. Doesn't mean you need to use them all. I have 6 on mine and use 2. High idle, and 140 extreme tune. That's it.

As far as the exhaust, 4" is big enough to support up to 500hp iirc, 5" won't really gain you anything except a different sound. Get rid of that cat..
