Cory, I would look into something like the ES9000's for your PSD. I was just taliking to someone at 4 Wheel parts today about the procomps for my wifes Chebby Tahoe and he highly recommended the ES9000's over the 3000's. He said the ES3000's would work fine but there was a much better ride with the ES9000's. Procomp has a lifetime warranty and are very reasonably priced too!!

I ran PC shocks for years. While the shocks are OK for the price, the finish is horrible and you will end up painting the darn things every six months because they rust like crazy. I swear they must just shoot one thin coat of paint on them. This is also coming from a dry climate so I can only imagine how bad they would be in areas where it actually snows and rains once in a while. I found 3000’s to be a little light for the truck and while 9000’s are better, there are others close to that price range. I use dual Bilstein’s up front and they seem to hold the front end down better than the PC 9000’s did.

The only reason I'm asking is 4 wheel parts is running a buy 3 shocks get one free on procomp shocks. Are the boot covers necessary?

I'm running the ES9000's on mine. Happy with them so far! Boot covers didn't really fit right on mine-too big, looked stupid

Boot covers are a personal preference. They help protect the shock but I have seen many that do not use them. I have a lifted truck so the boots look fine but if you have a stock height truck and you smash a 6 inch boot on them they might look a little strange.
