Turbomaster...

Nice unit. I ran one for years until I went to a 1.15 housing... Sold it a few years ago.

Dont expect big changes, just easy to adjust and holds pressure correctly.

Same song, different verse. I ran one on my stock turbo, then put it on the 38r. When I ran it on the 38r, I almost had it tightened to where the WG was disabled. Sold it later, when I went to the non-WG 1.15.

Did your MPG go down with the turbomaster?I was told they would. Thats why Jody recommends some other turbo to keep the bosst down on the highway. Is this misinformation?

My MPGs stayed the same as when I had a stock WG with the rod tightened. Just gained a little more power in the mid to upper range.

I have installed T.M. on E99 turbo with a 1.0 turbine that I just built but I have yet been able to drive my truck to see how it effects things. In my opinion it a way to manage you boost better than stock. It is in between have a stock w.g. and a Non w.g. housing. And for going with a 1.0 housing on a E99 turbo I'll be lucky if I can even get it up to defuel (22lbs boost if I am correct?) But if I do than I can back off the T.M. to blow off before defuel.

You might say why would you turn the boost down? Well it is a E99 turbo. But with that being said I am going to have a hard enough of a time building boost with the 1.0 housing on the bottom end I am hoping to keep some positive drive pressure with the T.M. Stock w.g. accuater would dump the boost to early between gears.

Now I did alot reading and research before installing it. And I have seen what these guys are saying on many different forums by many people. Look at it this way it a poor mans blowoff valve. If you are really cool you go with a non wasted gated housing with a REAL blowoff valve or a external w.g. http://www.precisionturbo.net/boost-...gate--66mm-/25

Sorry back on subject the only negative side effect is since it will hold boost higher going down the highway so since it spends more time in a positive boost. Which is harder on shaft bearing or bushings so it wears out the turbo faster, just more stress on the shaft. And with a bushing turbo I know for fact it is true because the turbo I bought for parts with the 1.0 housing and T.M had 25k on it's rebuild and total of 94k total on turbo, the bushing and turbine shaft were BAD. My stock E99 turbine shaft was Good and it had 205k on it. And since you are running a 38R I'll bet you won't even see an effect. Maybe the shaft.

So is using one of those Turbomasters really worth it? Noticeable difference?
