Thanks though.the pic may tell alot.but riddle me this? The hpop resivour is filled via the lpop.through a stand pipe it looks like in the pic.it is impossible for that to drain back it would seem...so for the hpop resivour to be empty it has to be leaking either externally or internally...externally i have cured.so what is it...injectors? Or hpop? Cant be much else....or am i wrong....
Once the oil is in the res , if it doesn't leak back into the oil cooler & then to the c case .
The injectors are the next stop...
You should be able to see this with a scanner .. IPR DC% will be high ,& ICP will be lower than expected ..
You can also test this with a gauge . It will tell you which side to look at ..
You can also pull the valve covers & look for oil bubling up from the base of an injector(or two)
Well, boys and girls.this pig has about got me going in circles.
i capped off the outlet @the the hpop to pass side.it still leaked down.so i capped the two off and yet it leaks down.now that we know it is only two possibilites...hpop or the ipr...hmm. ipr is cheaper and easier to swap...or do i spend the cheese that i dont have on the hpop...I am not upgrading it.only keeping transportation. Since it is a 95 engine im not hopping it up at all.that will happen to the y2k engine...
Did you look at the check valve in the block ?...The IPR should't have anything to do with the res leaking down unless its leaking into the valley .. The IPR when open is a direct path to the C Case , but won't drain the res ...
I checked the check valve.it is fine.the resivour is filled by a stand pipe inside.the oil can not leak back once in resivour other than into hpop, ipr, lines, injectors or o rings.i eliminated from the lines out by capping them off, first one at a time them both at the same time.leaked even with pump capped.

i also have a few other problems that i am thinking are by products of worn ipr.
Its not the IPR ....The IPR under normal operation opens the drain to the C Case ..That is where excess oil pressure goes .. The oil enters the res through stand pipes & cannot empty unless it is from the check valve , the oil cooler head , injector O rings or the HPOP gaskets . The system uses unfiltered oil at start up that runs through the check valve in the block . Replace the IPR if you want, you will be wasting your money ... Its not the pump either ....Good luck ..
Now help me.im going by what i have learnd from others and the parts brake downs i have seen. Thank you for your willingness to help.
My understanding is that the ipr regulates oil output by relieving oil pressure back to the crankcase?correct?
the pump is gravity fed from the resivour.the problem i am having is how does one deferientate between the two.with 300000 mi the 200$ ipr with a new pump could keep me from sitting on the side of the road broke.
i really just want my truck back....
The IPR regulates "high" oil pressure , your problem is not with the high pressure side .....The Stand pipes keep the res full . One of the stand pipes is in line with the check valve in the block...I have also read a worn LPOP can cause this as well, not real common
Since i have the early 95 style hpop gasket the pump has the check valve in it. At least the file on about page 5 had it.i matched my gasket up to the original, the holes lined up.wonder if someone hasnt MAYBEE installed wrong one? Heck,i just want this resolved.
my buddy that had it did an lpop and thought it was better but later admitted he though it a waste of time and.$
