So the oil cooler assy has to come off to access the other lower one? The upper is accessed from inside resivour?
behind timing gear cover? Behind hpop? I have been looking for parts brake down but have been unsuccessful in my quest....
When I did my oil cooler there was a spring-plunger thing in the filter head. I'm thinking that's it.
The other one in your diagram you put up, don't they call that the anti-siphon value? This has always confused me because Bob at dieselsite when he sent me the adrenaline sent me the wrong gasket and mine keep leaking down. Why would mine leak down just because of the wrong gasket if I have a 96 with the value?
Not sure in the gasket. But the one in the block if the spring breaks it will leak down as it stays closed when the tuck it turned off and when started the oil pressure pushes it open

Was it leaking down internally or externally? I am almost clean enough in my garage to get my truck in.hopefully tomorrow night will be the finish....then to fix a laundry list of things and level the old gal up...

This is a pic of the second valve in the header , The header has to be removed to service it .. You can see it under the oil filter if removed , it is in the other rectangle shaped hole ...
