My Ford dealer said the same thing. Cracking of the tires is normal.
Tire dealer advised me to get the tires changed prior to a weekend trip that I had planned. Funny that two tire experts came to the exact opposite conclusion.
I feel better having un-cracked tires on my truck.
Not sure how anybody would think cracks were "normal". On my other truck, I got 70k on the Michelin OEM tires. Granted, they were terrible in the snow but for highway use, they were quiet and good in rain. On a previous discussion on tires, it seemed guys had mixed luck with these tires and I wonder how much the crappy shocks came into play. I rotated tires every oil change (7k miles) and they did wear even. But they were really, um, bald when I slid through red light and decided to get new tires. As I was in a jam I got what the tire dealer had on hand. I went to Goodyear and when I realized my mistake, my wife said, oh just get rid of the truck. I knew I married a smart woman but I just had no idea how really smart she was until then.
