How is everyone doing on this fine, Monday?

Hopefully well.

Well, I went back to the docs today for my back. Found out the X-rays from last week show that one of my vertebra (spelling?) is actually moved forward from what they see. Ya, probably not a good thing.

So, they sent me back for oblique X-rays (and it hurt like a B*TCH!!!!) today and the doc will know in a few days (but I don't go back for 2 weeks) what the deal is. He is suspecting that is why my back isn't getting better, even though I've taken the meds like I'm supposed to and have been following everything the doctor tells me to do.

Here is the bad part...since I started working 1 week at my new job before this happened, that means I'm off unemployment. However, I don't get paid any type of sick leave from my new job. So, at this point, I've been getting ZERO money the past 2 weeks and nothing until I can work again. By the looks of it, it's going to be a while. I don't know what to do. I don't know if it's better to try and ask my job to fire me and then try and see if I can go back on unemployment or what. I know if I just quit (give notice or whatever), that I can't collect unemployment, so that won't help. So, I don't know what the hell to do now. I would have been better off almost not accepting my job to begin with and staying on unemployment!!!

Seriously, if anyone has any helpful ideas, please let me know. My back is against the wall as bills are coming up due (especially my truck payment) and I need to get money coming in somehow, but I can't go back to my normal job at this point. I'm applying for other "office" type jobs right now and praying I can start one of those to help, but right now, it doesn't look promising.

 

Can your present job put you on a desk position until your back is okay?

Jim, Good damn question...you would think they would bring that up considering, but no, apparently not. I've even spoken to the #2 person in charge on the account and she's never mentioned it or anything. It would be very hard for me to sit that long, but I would at least try it. Right now it's like, do my full job or don't be here with them. They have been VERY difficult to deal with through this entire thing. Worst of any employer I've ever worked for actually. I hate to say that.

 

Talk to the Unemployment office, they may be able to "persuade" your employer to put you on easy duty or to fire you so you can get benefits. A note from your doctor saying you can do easy duty will also help.

Mat, geeze guy I kinda figured you back would be on a recovery path by now... you got a tough deal goin on there, I am just livin day to day here over the hump, wish I knew how to help ... Wishin you the best and a quick recovery !!! Dave

Hey Mat, can you try rigging up some sort of traction device? Something that will stretch your back and take the pressure off that bad vertbrae.

Yo Dave, if you ever are up this way, shoot me a PM. If there is any beer left we could drink some. There is a lot of toasting to be done that's for sure. I will look up some of you sothern Nevada folk if i can find an excuse to drive down to your county.

So Donna, how are you? Do you have stories and pictures from the drags?

Off to the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City tomorrow. Then a "celebration of life" in the late afternoon for a wonderful old gal. She was the mother of a friend that I did a lot of work with over the years.

Hope your Tuesday is going better than mine. (I'll explain later when I can stop crying every time I talk about it)

The weekend was awesome! Alot of drivers/crews (approx. 330race teams) came out this weekend! I had so much fun! I didn't stay the the weekend at the track like I had hoped, but I really did appreciate the comfort of my bed when I got home. LOL! We only had 1 incident. The driver was a little shaken, but overall okay! His car on the other hand wasn't! He'll have to rebuild basically from the firewall forward! He should be able to salvage the engine. Anyway, I'll get pics on later.
