I haven't found anyone who carries the preflared straight line in a long enough section, but I'm going to call a few more places tomorrow. Apparently a 6' length is somewhat unusual.

Most of the steel lines on my Dent lasted 30+ years so I am happy to replace with steel.
Your steel lines have done better than most. All my dents have had a ton of cobbled together brake line repairs, and my brother has had to replace almost all the hard line in his 02 cummins ram. My 04 ex is from the south and the brake lines are still in good shape, but around here its not uncommon for steel lines to get holes after 10 years. The thing is, they can look perfect everywhere and have one rusted section that will blow out during a hard stop. Since this is an off road truck with no E brake, I just want to be able to trust my brakes without having to worry.

Oh, one quick question, if anyone knows, just for shopping around purposes, does anyone know the fitting sizes at the proportioning block and the rear soft line?

I use 2 shorter pieces to make the line and a brass connector to put 2 of the lines together, they have the brass unions for the double flare so you dont have to worry about leaks. or you can use a stainless kit and do your whole truck so you don't have to worry about any of the lines.

Yes, I know, I think we covered both of those options already.

Never heard of it but looks pretty cool. Flexibility isn't a huge deal since this is mostly just a straight shot, and that stuff is more expensive than stainless! Probably easier to flare though. FedHill Brake Line - Where to buy brake line, fuel line, brake line flaring tools, brake line nuts and brake line fittings
I still need a flare tool though.
