I took a 2 hr trip down to Dover Delaware this weekend. I was towing a small trailer loaded with coolers and other gear for the three races at the Monster Mile. We go every year, this year I got to bring my new truck!
Messing around on the way down and cruising at 93mph for a while I averaged 11.7 mpg. On the way back I was a little better and the mpg gauge went up to 12.6mpg. Got my gooseneck hitch installed while I was down there for $650, up here they wanted $1000.
It was muddy when I got down there and the front wheels kick up a LOT of mud on the running boards, anyone else notice this? I think I need to get front mud flaps.
Also there is a slight lag in power off the line when stomping on it hard. When taking of normaly I dont notice it at all tho.
800 miles into the truck so far and I am loving it!
Glad you are enjoying your truck and also went to the races. I love going to them, Charlotte is my favorite. $100 to camp there all week and easy to buy cheap tickets right before the green flag.
About your truck, we have a drive by wire system, no throttle cable. This combined with the emissions controls, everything we do with the throttle is evaluated and executed according to keeping emissions down and of course traction control (maybe dually trucks don't have it?).
Stomping the throttle has a delay in it for turbo lag, and keeping emissions low. Essentially the truck is controlled by the computer, our right foot gives it what we want to do but in the end, it decides if it will do it or not. You will feel hesitations like this all the time if you really pay attention to it.
Nice truck! Looks just like mine. I noticed all the crap the front tires threw on the running boards also and put Dura flaps all the way around to remedy that.

I only go once a year to this past Dover race, I do love it. Mini vacations are great!
Oh wow, but that makes sense. I actually thought about that but did not say it because I did not know. I have driven cars that are computer controlled before and noticed the lag. Not a big deal at all tho, I do not plan on stomping on it a lot like that.

Dura flaps, I'll look into them.

Thanks! I'm loving it. I picked up about 200 gallons of WVO last night, about 1500 lbs plus my 200 lb pump. I couldn't even notice it was in the bed, truck runs so good!
