Hello FTE,
i have been lurking around on this website for a while now reading everyones build threads and thoughts about how to tackle their projects. I have to say this is one of the best forums that i have had the pleasure to follow. Anywho my name is Matt and reside in Virginia. Recently my wife and I finally found a truck that wasn't to far gone to bring home and call our own. I look forward to start working on her soon( the truck that is not my wife- she came with a ford truck and the love for my addiction :-) ) and will be just as excited to be able to start a build thread to keep track of my progress on here.
I have a plan for the truck and have starting building lists for all of the panels, parts and all that i will need to complete this truck and get it back on the road . Enough about me as i know all of you guys loooovvveeee pictures. So meet nora shes a 54 with plenty of potential.
She has from what i have found so far her normal rot cab corners rockers lower cowls and floor pans. i am looking to learn a lot from this truck and all the work to come. and lets not forget all the knowledge that i will acquire from the good folks of FTE
i guess it comes from reading other threads and the first thing that everyone comes out with is welcome and then pictures . To add to the truck **** enjoy
this was also in the truck i took it out before i shot the picture. i thought it was pretty cool that there is a little paper tag still on the back with a date on it 5/8/54
and its in good shape all of the springs are still in tact.plus one for me
Welcome home, it took me several years B4 I figured how to post pics, so you already know more than I did when I started. LOL You guys are in for a wonderfull expeierence. So enjoy, even the dirty jobs become fond memories.
When you can fix the corners and the other rot and do it well it is a great feeling. I gave up on my front fenders and got fiberglass, but fixing the doors, the hood, and the floor (my cab corners were fine) was rewarding. I learned how to do it here as I am a woodworker by trade, not a metal worker. So, welcome to the addiction!
Welcome aboard! Good to see that you have the wife on your side with this project...these trucks are an uphill battle in themselves, a PO'd wife only makes it worse. What I would offer is that you both get a clear picture of what this truck should look like when you both officially declare the project finished. Put a picture of your dream truck on the refrig if you must so that you can see where you are heading. Too many projects go awry when changes are made in the build process...it's always better to shoot for the moon and then compromise down. It's the "added features" that will make you (and your wife) crazy. Good luck...
Welcome! "Nora" does have lots of potential! 54 is best looking version of these trucks! 100% of 54' owners agree!
If the wife is already onboard, the hard part is already over. Enjoy the build process, don't hesitate to ask for advice, and use the search function. Chance are, someone is already doing it, or has done it, and there's usually a very informative thread on it. You just have to find it.
