Hey all i been lurking around here but never posted so i guess you can say im new .. i just got a hold of a 2002 F250 SD 7.3L 3.73 Lariet about a month ago. Awesome truck love it very much already put a 4" MBRP turbo back on it, i have put in a order for a DP tuner a few days ago, cant wait to get that , just got it out of the shop today from getting it repainted so let me know what you guys think.
Man you are off to a good start. That is a good looking truck and welcome to FTE. I hope you have some gauges or at least on order. You'd be surprised how fast the egts go up with a tune like DP or anyone elses. That is a perty exhaust but looks kinda puny. My 6" tip does nothing for performance I am sure but looks and sounds cool, especially connected to the 5" sewer pipe. While I have a certain amount of stack envy, it's still great to be able to smoke the car next to you out.
Thanks for the comments . Im planning on buying some guages, probably pyro and boost.. i was thinking of getting a tranny temp guage also but my truck has one on the cluster and it looks like it works just fine. Yeah my exhaust is puney but it gets the job done . I ran a buddy of mine when i had my stock exhaust on and he would pull from me off the dig but not by much, after i installed the 4" i come out of the hole side by side everytime with him . If anyone knows where i can get a deal on a guage kit that comes with the pod and all the misc stuff to DIY, please let me know. thanks
Nice truck and welcome to the forum and the Power Stroke Brothers club, ha ha.
Take Tenn's advice and get some gauges to go with that DP Tuner. You will be shocked when you see those EGTs climbing fast in the higher end tunes. You need to be able to monitor those. As for the tranny gauge, I too have the cluster gauge. It never moves but my Autometer tranny gauge on the pillar moves all over the place. By the time your cluster gauge says the tranny is too hot it's too late. Something to think about.
The tranny gauge on the dash works but it will show normal from 50* til 230* then it will read high. An after market gauge will tell you the actual temp.
That truck really looks good! Mind if I ask a couple of questions?
1. Was the truck originally two-toned, or did you add the bottom color as part of the paint job?
2. Mind sharing how much that paint job cost? I have an '02 that is all white, but I love the two-tone look.

thanks . Well the truck originally was two tone white and tan (not sure of the name of the tan) i really dont know the price since the truck had alot of dents and the rear bumper was shifted to the side almost 6 inches.. also had a big dent like the size of a tire on the right side of the bed. but everything including body work and paint cost me $1450. The bottom 2tone looks way better in person, in the pictures it doesnt do it justice
Wow, Ed. I really expected to hear that it was more, especially with the dent repairs and all. Did you go to one of your locally owned shops, or a franchise operation? Also, do you have an in-bed liner, or did they paint your bed too?
I have a sprayed liner in my truck, so that would not have to get re-done right now. I also have lots of little knicks and small chip-outs, and one small dent between my cab and rear passenger wheel. I can get my dent taken care of for about $250 from a local "paintless" dent repair place.
This gives me a hope that I might just be able to get a total makeover before too long.
Nice truck, man!! I have the same truck, except mine's and XLT. I love the sound of the MBRP, so don't let these 5 inchers get to you!!
Definitely get the minimum three gauges -- I went with the DiPricols from ITP with a four-gauge pillar mount. ITP is also a site sponser, and I love how well they match the look of the stock cluster:
I have yet to add the forth, but it will be there shortly. The tranny "gauge" on the dash is worthless. Ford hosed us by making most of the gauges just a a three range indicator (low, mid-scale, and YOU'RE SCREWED!!). Basically, slightly more fancy idiot lights.
I've had the time for a few more mods, but you're right there on the same path as me -- get ready to hang on to your britches when you put in the DP!!! Which tunes did you get??

it was a locally owned shop about a mile from my house, i didnt bother to paint inside the bed cause it wasnt in bad shape.. i just have cheapo bed liner in there.. yeah man best thing you could do is ask around and find the best price but also find people that do a good job, had a few buddies get there cars painted at that shop and came out really nice! I heard nothing but good things from them so i went with them
