intermittent power windows, cant fix!

my dads 2000 crew cab lariat has a intermittent passenger side power window problem, this has been going on and off for about a year or so now. So i finally decided to give it a look last week, checked the switches and motor for 12 volts, i had 12 to the passenger front switch but nothing coming out. So i made jumpers from his battery and checked his window motor and it worked so i said you need a new front switch. So off to the dealer we went and got a switch, went back home and i hooked it up. WELL GUESS WHAT the window still wont work! I now have 12 volts to the window motor but the motor still wont work! So i removed my dads window motor and i hooked it to my 2004 F350 and guess what it works, so i hook my motor to his truck and it doesn't work?? I'm about lost now i fix the 12volt problem with a new switch, i know have 12volts to the motor but the motor doesn't move when you push the switch??? AND the best part of this whole problem on occasion the door will work but it only goes down but not back up!!!!!!!!!! I'm asking for some help because this now has become personal for me and I'm about to install a manual window crank and tell my dad i fixed his truck

I had the exact same problem. I spent a couple hundred bucks trying to fix the problem through buying switches and other electrical components. I fixed my problem by converting the electric windows to manual and now I have no problems. I do not know what the GEM is, but there is a relay on the in cab fuse panel that operates some of the window controls. You may want to check that out; it is listed as a accessory delay relay. Good Luck.

The next time you test this thing, maybe smack the moter with a small hammer!

The brushes in these moter sometime get hung up! You knock them lose and thay work for awhile. Try it!

I'm still doing that on a 88 150, hammer and a screwdriver! i even drilled a small hole in the plastic door cover for the redneck fix!

keep us informed
