"A universal joint, universal coupling, U-joint, Cardan joint, Hardy-Spicer joint, or Hooke's joint is a joint or coupling in a rigid rod that allows the rod to 'bend' in any direction, and is commonly used in shafts that transmit rotary motion. It consists of a pair of hinges located close together, oriented at 90° to each other, connected by a cross shaft."

In terms of civility, cool it.
Cooled, but...

I have been in contact with an FTE moderator. We've discussed the issues and I'm still here. That should answer any of questions on the status of my participation.
Checked my power steering fluid yesterday while truck was running because there was a "whine" when I turned the wheel. When I opened the resevoir I could barely see any fluid but when I shut it off to add fluid it was back at the top. Is this normal? Thanks
Yes it will drop down well the pump is running and come back up...Dont over fill it it will all end up on the ground it should be about a half inch up the tube well running.......
I love it you guys are arguing like babys about someone else stuff but not answered his question.....But I get scolded for accidentally hitting the caps key!
Priceless!
So now can you get back to what the guy was asking about!
I just replaced my steering shaft. The coupler next to the gear box was worn out and so was the u-joint. The bearing at the end of my steering column was also bad, so was the white plastic cap that held it.
I ended up getting a new shaft, so that fixed the sloppy coupler and replaced it with a u joint. LMC truck has the bearing that goes in the bottom of the column, I also ordered the plastic cap from them, but it was the wrong one. The 2wd caps are different from the 4wd ones. The one I got was for a 2wd, I ended up finding a good on at the junk yard. If your bearing is bad, make sure you get a rubber sleeve that goes around the bearing that holds it into place inside the plastic cap.
If that doesn't make any sense, I'll clarify later.

Man, I wish I knew you was going to buy that one in LMC. Would have told you it was the wrong one.
