Choosing a Hitch?

Got some family coming to town in a few months and they've expressed a desire to go quadding with me. So chances are they'll rent a few and a trailer as well. I've never towed anything before though. My F250 had a receiver when I bought it but no hitch and ball.

So I can see there are different elevations and stuff for choosing a hitch, which one is most likely for a truck like mine with stock height? The trailer we rent will most likely be a your basic flatbed big enough for 2 or 3 ATVs.

My '77 is stock height, the most commonly used drawbar I use is about 3-1/2" drop (Top of tube to top of drawbar where ball sits) .... but I have one that I bought just to use towing a U-haul tandem axle trailer that's more like 6" drop.

Measure from your reciever's hole's top surface (inside surface, top side) to the ground on level, subtract 15" which is pretty close to most trailer's hitch height. That'll get you close. Tongue up a little won't hurt.
