What have i bought

Hey all its been a while but i bought another dent. A 1978 f250 460 4x4 auto.
The issue im running into is i have had the 250 hd models before but ive have never seen suspension like this i have five front leaves and 10-12 rear leaves. I thought mabyee it was after market until i crawled under my dads which is a 77 with the same setup. Both of our trucks do not have the original cabs so im curious if mabyee this is a package. Any ideas?

Sounds like it's a highboy, does it have a divorced transfer case?

Highboys (73-77.5) have 5-7 leaves up front, with a positive arch.

Lowboys (77.5-79) have 2-3 leaves up front, with a negative arch.

Hmmm, sounds like either an aftermarket lift or someone swapped highboy springs under it.

78=not a highboy. Just a 4x4 with highboy springs.

also, the 460 has been swapped in. would have been a 351m or 400 from the factory.

no big deal, just something to know.
