I'm sure this question has been around the block a few times. What's the largest tire that can be put on a stock '95 F150 sc 4x4? Someone told me that 285's would fit, which I have a hard time believing. I'm getting ready to buy the truck, and it's going to need tires...probably go with BFG AT KOs. At some point it will get a lift, but not right away. Thanks.
I was running Super Swamper Radial 32/11.50 -15's on my '95 F150 SC 4X4 and they didn't pubb and did awsome off road, they did have a little howell to them but I liked the sound. They also lasted a long time for an aggressive tread tire.
This is a good question for the tire forum, but we have had this question many times, 32/11.5/15 is the largest that will fit on the stock 7.5" rim and fit under the truck comfortably, I run BFG mud terrains that are hard to beat. They have great tire wear, nice off road traction in mud/snow/rocks and is a decent street tire. It's great for an agressive look even if you drive 95% of the time on the street like I do. I plan on buying a few more sets of these. They are not a very loud tire on the road either.

Thanks all for the feedback. Mustang, those 32s fill out your truck nicely. I'll probably be doing the same. Looks like we have the same truck. I just bought mine, nice southern truck, not a lick of body rust to be found. 80K miles, 302 runs like a clock. Hopefully it stays that way for a good while. I'll look forward to reading more of your informative posts

ive got a brand new set of 361/2 inch x12x15 super swampers on a set of stock 7.5 inch ford aluminum rims
they were used on my old f 150 that had a 4 inch lift
ive got a 95 flarside that i am going to put them on as soon as i can afford the 6 inch lift
but the ties fit those rims nice
did lots of off roading and they worked great
on roading sux with them though
you cannot ballance those big biass tires so they tend to hop and bounce and wander alot and they howl worse then any wind ive heard
You should not have those tires on those rims AT ALL. I don't want to sound like a nagging father but that is unsafe and you could pop the bead if you had to make a sharp turn or some kind of manuver in an emergency situation. The manufacturer says an 8" rim is the minimum for an 11.5" tire. So a 9" rim is the minimum for a 12.5" tire. You're past that by an inch and 1/2, the manufacturer has limits for a reason. I put my 11.5" wide tires on a 7.5" rim, but a 1/2 inch isn't going to cause any problems, and inch and 1/2, ya. A couple hundred bucks for some rims are well worth your life in an accident. You can sell the rims you have for decent money.

Justin is "right on the money" with regard to both of his responses. 32x11.50 is the practical maximum size tire that the stock 7.5 rims will accomodate safely. When purchasing tires for my 1994 F-150 4x4, I myself, "backed off" one size - am running 31x10.50s with a relatively aggressive AT tread pattern. To "these eyes" the stance and stability makes one wonder why FoMoCo didn't offer them as an option [liability?] as the stock LT235's never looked quite right in the first place. After all......Chevy offers "31's" on their much smaller, short wheel-base, Blazer ZR2 - makes ya' wonder ??
Only setback to running 31/32" tires is the "loss of gear." My stock 3.55 gears have probably been reduced to an effective 3.30-3.35 (give or take.) But.....when equipped with a 351W, it still "pulls" rather well -and more importantly - provides a nice rpm/speed ratio at 70-75mph highway speeds.
Now...if I were hellbent to achieve very agressive pedal response, and given the better part of $1000 to spend - I might look at swapping my 3.55s for a 4:10 upgrade. It's hard to justify that expense, however, when I took Justin's advice to purchase and install an MSD 6A ignition amplifier - which has resulted in reclaiming some of the low-end response that was lost due to the resultant loss of "gear."
Apologies in advance for bringing up issues that probably belonged in another forum, anyway !
I have a 96 f150 and have been running the bfg all terrains for two years now the size is 33x10.50 x 15. the hieght of the tire is not the biggest issue it is the width that keeps you from running to big of tires. the 33's were a new size introduced a couple of years ago and I dont know if alot of people know about them yet.
