Not new to ford forums, but new to this one, got sick of the constant advertisements on the other sites. Plus im not exactly a 7.3 genius.
Anyway I bought the big boost mod on ebay, thought Id give it a shot, maybe its hype I don't know....
My 2000 F350 Dually has only been getting an average of 10 mpg, so I did the EBP tube replacement and cleaned the sensor, (tube had a hole and was packed shut with soot) drove down the shore and got 14.8 MPG. On my next fillup we will see how it has been doing around town. That mileage was calculated at fill up not the lie-ometer in the overhead console.
Just wondering if anyone has the big boost mod? Also Im loaded with banks goodies including the exhaust brake and cant seem to figure out where the map sensor is that the big boost is supposed to plug into.
MPG sounds good to me. I don't know what "big boost" mod is, but I'm sure you paid a good price for it. Someone will chime in with that mod and let you know what they think.
Hang around here and you will learn lots about the truck.
Absolutely not, it's just a boost fooler, you can make one for $25-30. And if you have custom tunes, most tuners electronically delete the overboost, anyway.
Well the only pic I can see is the turbo but it sounds like he is selling a home made OCR, The same thing that Clay sells unless there is something else that im not thinking of.
Like mentioned above, it is a boost fooler. You install it in the hose that runs from the spider to the MAP sensor. The MAP sensor is located on the heater core box. The hose is covered with corugated loom. Just pull baack the loom and cut the hose. Insert the regulator and you are done if it is preset. If you need to adjust it, I hope they sent instructions on how.
You'll see a lot of our mods in our signatures (everything in my signature is a link). What hardware have you got? The "boost fooler" keeps a stock tune from defueling above 22 PSI, but it doesn't stop the wastegate from opening at 25 PSI boost. How much boost are you getting to warrant this mod?
The fitting, to the left in the pic, most likely has a small hole drilled in the side of it. This allows boost pressure going to the wastegate actuator to bleed off and build a higher drive pressure.
You can install it. All it does is limit the boost that the MAP sensor sees.
You could have bough the Riffraff Diesel OCR for $59 and done the same thing. You had a learning experience, next time ask before buying and we will try to help you out.
