Has anyone replaced their air pump with a converted a/c compressor or some other air compressor for onboard air? its kind of a tight fit, but i thought that would be a good place to stick a compressor if there were something smaller.
I doubt you'd find a compressor that is compact enough, but feel free to prove me wrong.
Also, from a practical matter, it is very common for the through-bolt to seize in the bracket, cracking the bracket upon forced removal. 100% of the ones I've worked on have done just that.
My E350 bus has dual AC compressers. The cab unit is in stock location and the rear compressor is located above the alternator. There's a special bracket that mounts the 2nd compressor and idlers for the belt to run it. I know the belt is a diffrent size than factory.
Look around for a "dual AC" setup that they use for airport/church buses. May be some $$$ for that bracket but may be worth it as its already designed.
Now for me, I want to replace the smog pump with a 2nd alternator for running the coach power.
