Going test driving tonight!!!

I am hopefully going to have a truck within the next few months and want to go out and test drive the F150's. I know I have ben saying how much I wish I could have one and now it seems that day might come sooner than I thought!

I really have been thinking hard that I will end up with the Ecoboost due to the towing..since I currently have a 3200 lb. boat (roughly) and have the thought that in the future possibly a trailer. (maybe an Ultra Light). I am very specific on the type of truck I want...which ever I choose it will be a Lariat. I figure if I am going to buy a truck and keep it for a long time (which I typically do) I want something I am going to be happy with.

The dilemma is how will the ecoboost do compared to the 5.0l. Yes I have read the threads trying to compare them...however to me towing stories have the most weight for my decision making.

Can I have you guys give me your TOWING experiences with these two motors and what was the MPG (yes I know that is subjective depending on the terrain, altitude etc.) and how the overall experience was with those motors I would really appreciate it.

Just for grins I was talking with one dealership on the internet and for a loaded Lariat with an MSRP of $51,550...they were going to give me the x-plan and about 4500 of incentives...and said their OTD price would be $45,737
The breakdown:

$45,995 (selling price I would be getting taxed on which is an x-plan price)
-$4,500(rebates)
_______________
$45,737 OTD (including the transportation fee) The transportation fee is bringing this truck up from L.A. ($750...ugh)

Somehow I am sure they can do better than that. What are your thoughts? These prices of course are in California and in no way would apply to prices in other states (which I wish I could purchase from since it would be MUCH CHEAPER!!!)

Thanks everyone I look forward to your replies! Time to go shower and head out for some grins!

Rob

Yes I agree that is a much better starting point...however that is not pricing in CALIFORNIA. Prices in other states will not get me those deals here. I would like to see some OTD prices of people here in California with a Lariat if there are any please.

Why limit yourself? You can get just about anywhere on Southwest for short money. And if a trader is an issue, most dealers are good with working trades over the internet if you're objective about your vehicles condition.

IMO they won't just give you the Xplan unless you're employer participates. Also Xplan plus rebates should be more than 6k IMO. Last November I bought a 2011 fx4 EB and the truck Stickered 42k and I bought it with my Xplan plus rebates for 31.xxx otd

They took $9,250 off of the price and then added tax and license. So far that has been the only OTD quote I have gotten. I Was thinking if I could get about $40,000 OTD or lower I would be doing well.

I didn't get to do the test drives the day I posted this...something came up...however I will be going tomorrow.

Well we just got back from driving some trucks...and I REALLY like the F150's! They are super comfortable and drive very well. We drove the Ecoboost and the 5.0L. I have to say that I am really undecided on on which I would like better. The Ecoboost has plenty of get up and go...as well as the 5.0L(with a great exhaust note). The 5.0L seemed to have more punch down low and I don't know if it is attributed to the slight turbo lag of the Ecoboost?

We drove two Lariats fully loaded, one with 18 inch wheels and the other with 20's. There is a slight noticeable "sportier" ride with the 20's...I don't know if that is a deal breaker or not. The Platinum we saw (tuxedo black with grey interior) looked the best. I absolutely LOVE the power deployable running boards which allow you to use ALL of the board for stepping up into the truck, and they tuck out of sight when the door closes which is awesome! The other running boards one you can only use maybe half of the running board they way it is under the body and the rounded board is IMO basically USELESS!

I am a bit torn on whether I really need to max tow package either...it is standard with 3.73 gearing in the Platinum. Will there really be that much of a difference without it when towing???

Anyway...they showed me an invoice price of 47,745 for the Platinum with another $4,000 in rebates. UGH decisions decisions...
