I have a 2006 F250 with 85,000 miles. I have been running with the EGR off, using a SCT. I just got a River City EGR Delete that I am going to be putting on soon. My ECT and EOT delta is fine, around 8 at 65 MPH.
I am going to replace the STC fitting (4C3Z9B246F) while I am in there.
I also remember reading something about an upgraded turbo drain tube. Is that needed on a 2006 or not? Part number if needed.
Anything else that I should upgrade while I am in there?
Will I need any seal/ o-ring parts kits. Part numbers.
I got the truck about 2 yrs ago when it had about 50,000 miles on it. The first thing I did to the truck was flush the cooling system really well and replaced it with Rotella Ultra ELC. Also added a coolant filter. Although I never really got much in any of the filters, and the flush water wasn't that bad.
I really hate to mess with the truck because it is running so well, but I now have 85,000 miles on it and I feel like I am living on borrowed time with the STC fitting. Plus I am headed on some long road trips this summer. I figure I should just do it. Plus my dad is a big chevy man and if my truck lets us down on the one trip he is going on I will never hear the end of it.
I cleaned the EGR valve about 6 months ago and it was really carboned up even though I run a fuel additive every tank. I just figured I would put the EGR delete in while I am there. All that crap going into the intake can't be good. I don't plan on removing the intake, just tilting it like the sinister directions say.
your EGR was carboned up even though the SCT commands it off? Did you clean it prior to tuning it off?
I'm running with mine commanded off right now as well. I want to leave it in place, but if the damn thing is going to leak/get dirty anyways,I may as well do the sneaky delete
Tylus, it was carboned up before I turned it off. I haven't check it since I turned it off. I plan on just letting it in there even with the Delete. Everything I see says to let it in there to avoid fan problems.
Many people say that just shutting off the valve will not keep it from allowing exhaust gas pressure to open it. I don't know I am no expert. I figure I may as well delete the thing while I am in there for the STC.

Maybe the EG pressure would sneak past it closed IDK for shure
The Big thing is even if EGR Valve is turned off the EGR Cooler gets Heat soak and can blowout/meltdown if oil cooler is plugged coolant half of things then coolant will flow into the cylinders regaurdless of valve on/off

No, there are chances that doing it electronically isn't going to be enough and that it can still get in there. Most also suggest welding shut and also shutting it off. Essentially deleting it and leaving everything there for visuals.
