My truck had the same issue (1967 Ford F100). Two solutions I stumbled across and I settled on the second.

First the bolt that connects the pedal to the brake actuator (not sure what it is called) is too tight. The way the OEM switch works, it requires ever so slight slippage between the two pieces in order to connect and disconnect the circuit. If the bolt is too tight, the circuit stays open or closed the whole time and thus you have a problem. This is just a poor design if you ask me. That said, I loosened the bolt so it was secure and the switch could work, but it was still flaky. Sometimes the switch would still just stay on, I blame a bad switch.

I replaced the switch and it fixed the problem for awhile, but then it came back again.

So, the second solution presented itself. I chatted with a local shop and they suggested that I update the switch to a plunger style. I took their advice and replaced the switch with a GMC model plunger style switch. Cheap $6.95 at my local NAPA auto parts store. I know it is sacrilege to put a GMC part in a FORD, but hey...I needed reliable brake lights. I had to weld a bracket on the pedal for this to work right, but the plunger is much more reliable and I am going on several months now no issues. I will add a picture of the setup tomorrow.

Brake & front signals on solid

I replaced the brake switch (pedal), adjusted it properly, & brake lights worked. Replaced the turn signal assembly and now the turn signals work but all 4 signal bulbs (front turn, rear brake) stay on high / solid when truck is turned off, key pulled. Parking & head lights work fine. Any ideas?

First off, you do realize that the thread you posted this on is from 2012?? Anyways, if the problem started after you replaced the turn signal assmy. Then check the simple things first. Did you have to do any rewiring at the connectors? Do you have a stock /original steering colum? Where did you get the turn signal assembly? Are you sure it's the right part?

Does anyone know where the reverse swith is?

I have a three on the tree manual trans. The reverse light switch is on the steering column under the hood. It is a plunger type switch that is actuated by the shift lever when it is all the way up in the reverse gear.

What part number of turn signal switch did you install? You might have put the wrong one in there.

It is under the hood on a 3 sp column shift. Down next to the column that's poked through the firewall.
